Maintaining muscle mass and strength is essential for a healthy life. However, due to disease and aging, muscle mass decreases. There are still no methods to stop this breakdown of muscle mass.
However, recent research has shown that muscle stem cells can stimulate the production of healthy muscle fibers. This muscle stem cell therapy will be tested as part of the project Generate Your Muscle. More specifically, the research will focus on the safety and effectiveness of this therapy for patients with muscle disease.
Ultimately, the production of muscle stem cells in a new spin-off must be scaled up as a part of this project. This should make the therapy affordable and widely available.
