The Interreg-project N-POWER will start next week with a launch event in Genk (BE). N-POWER will develop innovative approaches to revive disadvantaged and deprived urban areas.
Disparities are growing between flourishing urban areas and neighbourhoods that are in decline. Cities need new methods to revitalise those excluded neighbourhoods.
The autonomy and empowerment of residents will play a prominent role in the project. N-POWER will turn to participatory approaches such as ‘co-creation’, which gives a significant role to residents.
Priorities of the project are the development of a training programme and training materials, the running of pilot projects and the testing of innovative funding.
At the launch event on 23 April, N-POWER will share the experiences from three cities:
- Brussels (BE) – redevelopment of the Brussels-West Station area
- La Louvière (BE) – transformation of the former Bosch factory site
- Ghent (BE) - 17 participatory and co-creation projects
Wim Dries, Mayor of Genk, and Mark Vos, Coordinator of Interreg Euregio Meuse-Rhine will address the audience.
